Gink, let me say first of all I agree with your position.
The real issue at hand though (and one that we have discussed at length before until most of us are  of it) is that 3rd person perspective allows a significant advantage over 1st person.
Personally, I like that disadvantage. In my and twisted mind it means that if I can stay somewhat competative then I've got l33t skills (I know... I'm just foolin myself but hey it works for me and I'm the  )

Oh I almost forgot (not really I just want to be back in the top 10 list) 
I  hate 3rd person for the same reason I hate games like Laura Croft or Max Payne (also 3rd person). They get in the way of suspension of reality (for me).
Besides I'm to  and  to even consider using 3rd person. I know you would all run if I did cause I would  all of you if you ever were in my  . It would be so  that I would just have to  or

If they'd bring the camera position down to the top of the chassis (so that you'd have to expose your position in order to see your target - just like a 1st person view pilot has to do), I wouldn't have any problem with 3rd person view at all.
Too many people were abusing the advantage in BK. With the longer range of many of the Mercs weapons, the situation could get worse. It's very frustrating to get shot by somebody at their max weapons range that you never see until it's too late - even when you're radar is off.

AGed i really ment that to be a joke ,, i hate 3rd person view with a passion , because i think that i can play the game better than most, to me its like racin against some one who races in that 3rd person mode u r at a disadvantage at that point

I was mostly responding to Ginko and his question about why I hate it so much.
Now, if they implement 3rd person view they way the roof camera is done in NR2002, that would be an improvement IMO.

 I only like 3rd person to get a view of the mech I am driving. Other than that, when I played, I played in first person.
