Theres nothing wrong with the Mods. Desert Combat was a Mod and what got me into playing BF. One thing about the mods is they seem to be more accurate. Meaning, you shoot someone with a 50 caliber once, they are DEAD. Doesn't take 3 shots.

I've been playing the Allied Intent mod for a couple of weeks. Some nicely done new maps plus coop versions of some of the old ones. New weapon sets but no unlocks. Helos are a little overpowered with sidewinders and forward firing m/guns on the transport choppers.
Still kind of hard to find well populated servers but it makes for a nice change of pace. Single player is pretty good for when my daughter and/or wife is hogging the bandwith.

Pirates and FH2 are the mods to look for. DCF2 will maybe good at some point, there just is not much there yet.

I have downloaded NAW, USI and Allied Intent. For some reason when I try NAW or USI it looks like it is going to load but right when I should be picking a spawn point it dumps me back to the desktop. Allied intent looks good, and I love the new wweapons on the choppers and jets, but so far I cn only find a server with humans against bots. Not very challenging even for me.

I want a Nosehair mod, where all all players have tutus. Pink for allies and blue for enemy. And all vehicles are Cooper Minis with machine guns.

I just tried the Allied Intent! It's freaking awesome!!!!! OMG Bent is right ! The modrocks! New maps,weapons,vehicles and more! All you flyboys would really love it!Serious space to dog fight!!lol I think we should have AI on our server at least one night a week!!! I highly recomend this mod!! I don't think anyone will be disappointed!!

Yes Yes Yes.. I can't agree with you more HairPlug. I'm playing with the 'Allied Intent' mod and if everyone would put the 'ranked server' affinity aside for just a while and play this great mod, the meaning of "a lot more fun" might just hit home.
Try it guys, it's awesome.

The download
1. go here ---> http://airmaps.fr/
2. Click Downloads on the left side
3. On the first file, Airmaps V5.7, click on the [exe] in the lower right corner of the box.
4. It will start downloading
The installation
1. follow the on screen instructions as they are in english
for those that have the 5.5 version::
1. go into your bf2/mod folder and delete the airmaps directory
2. follow the steps to install the 5.7 version
