So I'm crouching, slowly, getting closer to the corner of the building, I hear my opponents' foot steps coming closer and closer and I'm getting ready to ambush him when he appears....and then ....it happens..... Dirtbag knifes me in the back!!!
@#^$#^%@(()#*$@^%!!
So......any suggestions on a good 3d headset?
I'm thinking that this may be a good one... http://us.creative.com/products/product.asp?product=16618&campid=20445&WT.cg_n=Campaigns&WT.mc_id=8866
any suggestions?

I don't see anywhere that these are true surround sound headphones. I use the Razor Barracuda's These ARE surround sound and you can absolutely tell which direction the sound is coming from. http://www.razerzone.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_16&products_id=38
Just be sure they are true surround sound headphones. most are just stereo that claim to be "Virtual" surround sound. Not the same thing you want.
Looking at those a little further. It says the only requirement is a stereo mini jack plug. THESE ARE NOT the ones you want. The type you want will have 4 plugs 3 for surround sound and 1 for the mic.

So true Dirtbaggy sir, I had some true 5.1 surround and they were great, problem was they were USB and they started having problems with my sound card, remember scratchy skidi? so I am now only using a stereo set and though no scratches I only hear right and left, not up back front.

$129.00 for those phones are a pretty good price. I might have to get them as my neighbor keeps dropping notes under my door for me to keep it down. My sub is right on their bedroom wall and Skidi's tank blowing up makes alot of noise...

The barracudas look great, but it would cost me approx $400.00 to purchase those (after taxes, shipping,..... bribing wife.)
After some more research I've come across these ones...~$70.00 (I can get them under the radar)

I like the looks of the Baracuda and read several reviews that really liked the sound quality but questioned their reliability. Think I will look into the Audio Extreme also.

Hey those look good Spec. Let me know how they work. Yes the reliability is not so good with Barracuda. I'm on my 3rd set. My son is still using his first set. I must be hard on these?

I assume you have the sound card that supports 5.1 btw the Barracuda does not require the Razer Sound card to work.

Creative labs Extreme X-Fi Extreme Gamer - The fact that there was no software to add and run for this headset was actually one of the selling points for me. :)
They do have another model that is similar to the Barracuda with the bells and whistles. Also a USB based set as well.

These look great Specimen, but it looks like its use the headphones or use speakers. So If I want to listen to music through my speakers, I'd have to remove the headphones then plug them back in when I want to game? Very inconvenient since I'd have to get to it via the back of the PC. With my headset, just stereo, I can plug a "Y" connector in so I can have both with out futzing with it!

Question: Couldn't I stick a "y" in each socket for the surround speakers and headset to work without having to go around back of the comp and unplugging stuff( I could use a switch to turn off speakers (the headset has an on/off switch on the cable already).

I was wondering about that too. I think Nosey's suggestion is the way to go. Some 'Y' connectors should do the trick.
BTW you're going to have to back me up on this purchase to my wife ok?

There must be something more elegant than that out there! Must research!
