Ok so all deathmatch does not appeal to all and all domintion/headquaters/sabatoge does not appeal to all either.

Can we put together a rotation with something for everyone?

Perhaps a rotation of changing games and maps?

Lets say for TDM overgrown and city streets.(not back to back of course)

Two maps for Domination are...

Two maps for Headquaters are...

Two maps for Sabatoge are...

Yes balance is the key. Seems like once we start one type of round it goes on forever. I like this idea of switching every round or 2. Switching mode and map.

No one is ever happy

There are 16 maps with 5 types of game modes, the object is get the right map with the right mode.

Some maps are bad for certain types of game modes,so we just have to figure out what works best for each map and go for it.

Team death match works well for any map, so we could use that to plug in the gaps.

HQ(not a big fan since you have to wait for respawn) works well for any map.

Sabotage. I do like sabotage but it seems like most of the people like to camp the bomb while a few just run their guts out trying to move it. But it is a change of pace so it's good to have in. I like the maps that aren't as wide open to play this though. You haven't lived unless you played a sabotage shipment(j/k). So my vote would be for crossfire and showdown.

Domination. I know people are getting tired of this one since it was in the rotation a lot recently but it's my favorite since it offers the most balance, campers can camp errr defend captured flags, and the run and gun types can capture flags.

The map rotation needs to be done often until we find the right mix and can lock it in. Until we decide I'll mix it up and take out most the dominations.

Ok so we can boil it down to 4 game modes and 16 maps. This doesn't sound impossible. Do you have a list handy of all the maps with a short description?

Well HQ is my least favorite. Free for All [FFA] can be fun if the map size matches the people playing. Sabatoge could be the best of all if it wasn't for that "KILL TAG", seems like that defeats the reason for "Hardcore". As for maps I like them all except I have a hard time seeing on "Bloc" and "Shipment".

Thanks for the link Expired. The default setup I have for the server was faily evenly mixed between Sabotage and HQ with TDM being the majority of the map rotation. It appears someone went in and altered the map rotation with ModernRCON and did not set it back (a server restart will solve that). Not complaining about it, but if you are updating the rotation, please save the original rotation and restore it back after your play session. The randomizer I use in excel does a good job mixing the rotation up.

Now, as for getting down to a core rotation that will make everyone happy as kittens: I am all for it. Lets use all 16 available maps and then select the best mode for that map. Shipment, obviously, is DM map only.

I have made TDM rotations and overwrote what was there. I did not know that you could save the original rotation. I'll be sure to save it next time if I want to change things up. thx

All TDM = boredom, all Sabotage = frustration, all Domination = tedious...

I prefer the big rotation where every map gets every game type, with obvious exceptions.

That was the setup I had Cadaver. Restarting server now so it will be reset tonight.

All you have to do is click manually edit and copy paste the data into notepad. Once done, copy it back.

Also, here is the current default rotation:

One thing we haven't considered (which I would to try out) is old core mode. It's basically a mix of both Hardcore (must have to eliminate lots of glitching) and Old School (you find weapons and perks on the map) vs. using your custom or standard kits. It could be a way to make the game interesting and get people out of their comfort zone (ie camp with their favorite kit).

Also my preference is to change maps and game types with every round. Don't like to play the same map with different game types in succession or different maps with same game type in succession.

Do the weapons and perks randomly scatter across the map or do they appear in the same place every time?
Do you get a base assault rife to start with?

I never camp so if it isn't just luck then fine. However, I don't want to die because all I have is an pistol and a sniper rifle trying to kill someone who randomly found a P90.....LOL

The weapon and perk spawns are not random. Just recall that Old School is not map specific, it is a server setting like Hard Core. Both of which can be turned on and off through ModernRCON prior to the next map loading.

And please make sure you are using the most current version of ModernRCON (0.6 is the most current version. 0.5 was problematic).
