I know I've seen this somewhere before but how do you increase your resolution past 1280x1024 for COD4?

And is this a standard way for all games?

Wha is the next resolution higher?

Maybe that's why I have a hard time seeing anyone at a distance. They seem to blend in. I may try a higher resolution.

I just last night crashed to desktop and had to reboot, said my video settings were too high and I should reset them. I just rebooted and will keep running that way.

Hmm.. I'm going to have to recheck that when I get home. I thought you had to add something to your shortcut on the desktop to get a higher resolution.

Thx

Your game should see the possible resolutions. You click on them in the options. I have mine set at 1680 x 1050.

I just checked. Max 1280x1024. Apparently it is set by what your max resolution is for your monitor. Mine, of course, is 1280x1024

I guess the next step is a 22" widescreen this fall. or a PS3

My 42" defaulted at 1920 x 1080,or 1080P in game. Because thats its native res. And was shown in the res. list on COD4.

My 27" monitor im playing on shows im playin at 1360 x 768, but the game thinks its 1280 x 768. No problems with it that way so far. Monitor res. is actually 1366 x 768 native, or 720P in TV mode.

A new 22 or 24" monitor is in my future as in gettin rid of my 2 CRT TVs soon. I hope to find a good deal on a 24" online.

Specimen, I think your card decides the max resolution, not the monitor.

Older has the same card as me but a larger monitor. He's running 1680 x 1050.

I don't have that graphic option in COD4.

Your card will only show you the options that your monitor can support.

Mine is maxed at 1280x1024 (native resolution) when hooked to my 19" LCD. But when hooked to my 47" LCD HDTV, I get a ton of new options

Stingray, Is the gameplay better on your big screen? Mine is beautiful but seems just too dang big. Anyone else goin big or tried it?

Just replaced 27" with 22" 1680x1050.
COD4 now shows options for the monitor @ its native res.

Never played any games on it, I hooked it up for diagnostic purposes. I was having issues with my HTPC and was trying to figure out if it was my HTPC or HDTV. Ended up being my HTPC's power supply.

Then if you have a 1080P enabled monitor you cant miss out on a chance to see COD in 1080P...Mine is through a HDMI cable only.

I cranked mine up to the same as olders and it was like looking through binoculars. The down side was part of the what I was supposed to see was off screen. To get it back to 1280x1024 I had to go into options and hit reset to default cus the list options was off the screen.

I play at my Dell 24" widescreens native res. (1920x1200). Can't imagine playing at lower res.

As for the huge screens (i.e. anything over 32") it just does nothing for me. I have a 60" Sony HDTV and a 55" Mitsu HDTV and it looks OK to hook up and run at full resolutions, but you have to sit about a mile away for it to be feasible and look good too. Flight sims and Driving sims are the only two exceptions to that, and they do look good at about 6 - 7 feet away.

My son Cole used the Ntune configuration wizard and it screwed up his pc. His machine kept shutting down on him. He uninstalled it reset the Bios and all is good.
Go figure?
