I was looking at P5WDG2 WS Professional and on new egg is says Server MB. I was wondering why the FSB was only 1066 but the processor I wanted, Intel Q9450 has a FSB of 1333? Isn't there a MB that has the same FSB.
Man this stuff is way to complicated these days :(
The Q9450 is a sweet CPU and should last you for a while. nForce 650 is also a good chip set but unless you are going dual Nvidia vid cards [SLI] why pay for it.
Also what exactly are you after--Top line Game rig--Server--Video--Net surfing--????
That is a great CPU Cath. But you could save a hundred there with the Q6600 and never feel behind in the speed department. I love mine and plan to run it for long as it lasts. Clocking my ram at its default speed and setting the FSB at 333 gives me 3 ghz all the time with no problems at all. You could apply the 100 you saved to a raptor hard drive.

I only use this box for gaming so while I was dreaming I wanted close to cutting edge. I didn't see anyreason to upgrade to a processor that is way down on the list. I picked the one second to the best. That way you aren't being gouged for a cutting edge processor and you can play for years. My Pentium D was up there with most until you guys started upgrading the last six months.
As far as MB I want one that will support the full FSB of the processor and the chipset maybe just below the best available. I always try to buy one step under the newest so it last much longer.
It's my understaniding that Intel chipsets will not do SLI. If you are going to build a gaming rig and the GPU takes precedence over CPU, you might want to go with a Nvidia chipset for dual/triple/quad video cards. I have a 590SLI chipset on my board and I'm looking to upgrade to (2) 8800GT's later this year. I believe the latest Nvidia chipset is 790i.
