I'm against the $85,000,000,000.00 bailout of AIG.

Instead, I'm in favor of giving $85,000,000,000 to America in
a We Deserve It Dividend.

To make the math simple, let's assume there are 200,000,000
bonafide U.S. Citizens 18+.

Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man,
woman
and child. So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18 and
up..

So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billon that equals
$425,000.00.

My plan is to give $425,000 to every person 18+ as a
We Deserve It Dividend.

Of course, it would NOT be tax free.
So let's assume a tax rate of 30%.

Every individual 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes.
That sends $25,500,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam.

But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 in their
pocket.
A husband and wife has $595,000.00.

What would you do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00 in your
family?
Pay off your mortgage - housing crisis solved.
Repay college loans - what a great boost to new grads
Put away money for college - it'll be there
Save in a bank - create money to loan to entrepreneurs.
Buy a new car - create jobs
Invest in the market - capital drives growth
Pay for your parent's medical insurance - health care improves
Enable Deadbeat Dads to come clean - or else

Remember this is for every adult U S Citizen 18+ including the
folks
who lost their jobs at Lehman Brothers and every other company
that is cutting back. And of course, for those serving in our
Armed Forces.

If we're going to re-distribute wealth let's really do
it...instead of trickling out
a puny $1000.00 ( 'vote buy' ) economic incentive that is being
proposed by one of our candidates for President.

If we're going to do an $85 billion bailout, let's bail out
every adult U S Citizen 18+!

As for AIG - liquidate it.
Sell off its parts.
Let American General go back to being American General.
Sell off the real estate.
Let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean it
up.

Here's my rationale. We deserve it and AIG doesn't.

Sure it's a crazy idea that can 'never work.'

But can you imagine the Coast-To-Coast Block Party!

How do you spell Economic Boom?

I trust my fellow adult Americans to know how to use the $85
Billion
We Deserve It Dividend more than I do the geniuses at AIG or in
Washington DC .

And remember, this plan only really costs $59.5 Billion because
$25.5 Billion is returned
instantly in taxes to Uncle Sam.

Ahhh...I feel so much better getting that off my chest.

Yeah, except the math is wrong. We'd end up with $425, after taxes, maybe $300.

LOL, yep

I hate that we the tax payers have to bail out these big companies, but in the long run it might be the lesser of two evils. I do think that part of the bail out agreement should be that NO CEO or any operating executives or board members get any payouts at all. It's total crap that CEO's walk away from these sinking ships with millions, while employees and customers alike are left holding the bag. I also think they should jail CEO's (read all in the know at high levels of these companies) for any wrong doings.

Depending on if they Tax it (they did not tax the "Stimulus Package"), it would be between $386 and $425 depending on the actual number of adults they send this to (200-220mm). You would need 200m adults or 85,000,000,000,000 for the 425,000 number to work. Neither will happen.

I agree heartily. They could work for free for a few years and still sit pretty - unless they squandered their earnings. Either way, it would be just recompense. I talk about this a little on my Political Blog.

The fact is theres not that much cash money in the system anyway. Its all virtual money, or just ones and zeros being sent back and forth.

Every rational citizen hates the idea of this trillion dollar bail out but bottom line is what are our options. I have several friends in the upper end of the banking business and let me tell you they are close to terrorfied at how close our finanical system is to total failure. I'll give you a little example, there is a company that sells an insurance policy that protects your bank deposits over $100,000. That company is owned by Warren Buffet and he has quit selling that type of policy.

I don't know. I think that if people can be civil about it, it's not that hot of a topic. Abstract ideas exercise the mind.

Isn't AIG mostly an insurance company? If that's the case, then I'd much rather perfer them get the money so that I'm protected in case the unknown happens. I can just imagine someone who ha AIG insurance not being able to get money to fix their house after a guy ran a car through it or something because the money wasn't there. I know that if I had my car insured by them and it got totaled and the money wasn't there, it would take me 4 hours to get to work using the metrolink train because buses and trains don't go across the hills of Brea. Granted I have a motorcycle that I could use, but some people aren't so lucky.

Just to clarify this "too hot topic" (rolls eyes)

The real numbers are more like 700 billion (not 85 billion). If you take that and divide it out by the 200 million "tax paying age folks", then your in the ball park of $3500 per person. That still is much, much less than I have lost in the last week in my stocks, but it is a fair amount per person.

Bail them all out, but by god don't give any officers in any companies a dime on leaving.
