ditto. Go Red!
btw, I seem to remember Nostrodamus predicted a man with a blue cape/coat/cloak/whatever would go to Iran as part of his prediction for Armageddon. Is Obama with the cloak of Democrat blue going to be that man?

Yeah, and John McCain sucked as a candidate, but I didn't hold it against him, either.

Wondering if any of the rest of you are going to be buying more firearms and ammo now?
I will start looking for a few additions to the collection very soon.

Yeah I was going to ask what can I get on the cheap before they start baning firearms.
SKS? Ruger mini 14?. Going to do it now while I still have a job and some savings.
Do you think the current white house staffers will start removing all the "O's" off the computers like Clintons staffers did with the "W's" when bush took office?

YES!!! More specificaly, I'm going to be buying more ammo before it's all banned. Not to mention that I need to start stocking up for my zombie kit. http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/browse/BrowseAmmoIndex.aspx?
Oh and Fossil, look for a gun show near you. That'll give you an idea of what you can purchase NOW. Not to mention you can usually find/make a good deal on most shooting equipment, firearms, and ammo.

Speaking of which, Have a look here at the news for the different countries and how much this election ment to them. in the lower left, you can look @ news for previous days: http://www.marumushi.com/apps/newsmap/newsmap.cfm It really is quite amazing. We almost never hear about when some president, prime minister, or other sort of leader gets elected in other countries, or even when they are running for election, for that matter.

THAT Specimen is just another deception by Obama to get into office. He has contradicted himself on this issue.

Yes, I am going to buy used handguns. and I just bought another long gun. Weatherby 300 mag for Elk. If you buy used, you can keep the gun hidden. They cant trace it to you.

I don't see a complete ban on weapons (although look at Chicago gun control laws) but I do see a bunch of bans being added to all kinds of legislation now. Assult weapons, high capasity, etc will all be in danger now. Having said that, it didn't deter me during the Clinton era, so all I can say to Obama is "from my cold dead hands" ;)

It will start like it did with clinton. First the auto (semi auto) ban will come about and the inport of any guns. Then they will look at the ammunition ban. After a couple years and they have stoped the gun shows and the imports and what they consider assault rifles, they will work on any rifle other than a shotgun. Then they will join the UN World ban on guns. Welcome to the start of what will be a hard row to hoe.
Make no beans about it, he has already stated that he does not like them and that the Bible carrying gun toteing Americans are the ones that will be affected if he is elected.
I know that somewhere in the above statement I will be called a lier but it is not a lie. The first move is to give the state the right to state what the gun control will be. Forget the Constitution.
Bloody, there are millions that feel the same way. I will not give mine up.

Hmmm... never owned a gun (I'm Irish-Mexican and my temper is predictable so... you do the math), but might pick one up for the sake of it.
What would be a decent one for a learning novice?

A used revolver. then go to your local gun range and sign up for a class. Good move. I think its important for ALL people to know how to handle a gun.

Yep, the classes will be the most important thing you will ever buy related to firearms.
If you do go for a semi auto hand gun, I suggest a double action trigger. It sucks later on, but during the learning process it's the best way to go.

Ruger 10/22 (to learn to shoot a rifle) Mauser (to learn to shoot high powered rifles) Single action Revolver (to learn to shoot handguns in both single action and double) Remington 1100 (to learn how to shoot shotguns)
All cases the ammo is cheep, and less the Mauser, they can all be bought @ Walmart. And they're right about the classes. Make sure that it's an NRA Certified Instructor teaching the classes.

It might be better to get with someone that knows guns and not go to a range where you have to sign up. Down the road, if they want, they can get the records of who used the range and has their own gun and there you go. There should be plenty of places where you can go in the country to practice. Someone that has a gun will probably know where you can go and not have to sign up.
I made the mistake of getting the concelled weapons permit and that will be the first thing they look at. Never underestimate what people will do to take your weapon when they get serious about you not haveing one. If you don't have one you won't be able to stop any takeover if there was one.
The criminals will always have them. So will I.
