I guess I fail to see why running really high resolutions is such a good thing. My vid card will support high resolutions but I seem to be able to see better by keeping it to 1024x768 on my 21 inch monitor. Am I missing something here????????

To Specimen - no! To Nosey - yes! To Expired - yes!

It's not so much about running at higher resolutions as it is having the ability to run at your screens native resolution.
I know 1024x768 is not a native resolution for a 21" screen, more like 1600x1200 or 1680x1050.
I notice running at my native resolution, graphics seem to be much more crisp and clean as opposed to blocky and fuzzy.
In some case the differences might be subtle, never the less I can see them.

I am running BF2 everything on HIGH with max resolution. On one of the maps I almost had to wipe the dust from my eyes. As I ran around the flag, dust was blowing in from the beach.....pretty cool.

19" regular screen = 1280 x 1024 19" wide screen LCD = 1440 x 900 20" wide screen LCD = 1680 x 1050 24" regular screen LCD = 1920 x 1080 24" Wide screen LCD = 1920 x 1200 28" wide screen LCD = 1920 x 1200 30" wide screen LCD = 2560 x 1600
But if you really want to be confused, go here:
