OK, this is the process of getting onto the server. READ THE ENTIRE SET OF INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE DOING!!!!
THIS IS A WATCHED DOWNLOAD. IT DOES REQUIRE WELL TIMED USER INPUT!!! FAILURE TO DO SO MAY CAUSE YOU TO HAVE TO START OVER!!!
1. Download and install Leaf. Http://www.leafnetworks.net It's a free VPN program. It's what we use to connect to the server.
2. Create an account on Leaf.
3.PM the following to enter you into the system.
- The Username for Leaf that you created
- The Server Account Name that you want
- The Server Password that you want
- An e-mail to send the Installer file
4. Launch installwow.exe and choose "World of Warcraft" from the drop-down box below the image. After it downloads the installer it will come up with a box that says "Install World of Warcraft". Notice in the lower left hand corner that it says the version number that you are downloading. Pay attention to the version number, as we have a target to reach.
5. Click "Install World of Warcraft". WHat it will do download the files, Approx. 3.2gb, and install them for you. When it's finished, it will bring up the launcher and try to start patching. CLOSE THE LAUNCHER!!! DO NOT START PATCHING!!!
6. Download and install World of warcraft: The Burning Crusade using installwow.exe, following the instrictions for the classic version. It does the same thing as Classic WoW. Again, CLOSE THE LAUNCHER!!! DO NOT START PATCHING!!!
7. Download and install World of Warcraft: Wrath of The Lich King unsing installwow.exe. It does the same thing as Classic WoW. Again, CLOSE THE LAUNCHER!!! DO NOT START PATCHING!!!
8. Copy and save the entire World of Warcraft folder to another location, just in case there is a problem from here on. If there is a problem, these files will bring you back to the version that you originaly downloaded.
8. Start patching. Run Launcher.exe Notice on the left side of the title bar how it says "World of Warcraft Version x.x.x.xxxx" This is the version that it is currently at. Pay very close attention as this will change after each patch.
9. Stop patching once the version number reaches 3.0.8.9506. close the window before it finishes the next download.
This is the order that the launcher will patch:
Current Version: Patch afterwards: Size
3.0.1.8874: 3.0.1.8874 to 3.0.2.9056: 389mb
3.0.2.9056: 3.0.2.9056 to 3.0.3.9183: 20.6mb
3.0.3.9183: 3.0.3.9183 to 3.0.8.9464: 51.4mb (Beware! New launcher. Doesn't restart after patch install)
3.0.8.9464: 3.0.8.9464 to 3.0.8.9506: 6.76mb click downloader right side to monitor download
3.0.8.9506: 3.0.8.9506 to 3.0.8.9551: 10.6mb
3.0.8.9551: STOP PATCHING!!!
STOP PATCHING When Patch notes say 3.1.0!!!
10. Delete the World of Warcraft shortcut that is on your desktop.
11. Open Notepad. Copy and Paste the following text, including the quotation marks:
@echo off
"C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Wow.exe"
If you saved wow to a different folder, change the path that's within the quotation marks.
12. Save it on the desktop as StartWoW.bat. Make sure that it daves as a batch file, and not a text file. The icon on the desktop should look like a window with a gear in it if it was saved correctly.
13. Navigate to C:\Program Files\World of warcraft\data\enus. Make a copy of Realmlist.wtf.
14. Open up Realmlist.wtf with notepad. Mark it so that always opens with notepad.
15. Edit the old realmlist.wtf so that it says ONLY the following:
set realmlist 5.2.41.69
16. Save & Close realmlist.wtf. Close all the other windows
17. Double click on StartWoW.bat on your desk top.
18. Start Playing and have fun!

All those that have already given me info will be entered into the database as soon as it's up and running.

I turned off Death Knights. There's no NPCs for them, so you would never get out of the starting area. Not to mention that you would need a level 55 character in order to make one anyways.

You're welcome to learn MySQL and C++ and start writing code.
IN the mean time. Death Knights don't work. The developers still trying to figure out how phasing works. In other words, when you start off, you can't see any NPC's. They're probably still there, but you just don't see them. You would never get out of the starting area, and if you try, some NPC comes down and gives you the one-hitter-quitter, cauing you to respawn at the graveard. You would walk around in the same 50yd by 50yd space tring to get someewhere, but would never be able to.

LOL, that would suck.
What is weird is that last night when I first came on it just let me start the DK at lvl 55 with no other toons on there. Does the other content of Wrath show up (areas, etc)?

I see on the WoW private server 100 list that a bunch are running 3.0.9 with full Wrath support. I wonder if they are using a different install/data base to run it?

I'm having a problem connecting.
Just to clarify, I did all the instructions (of course), but was not able to connect this morning or a few minutes ago.
Is the server up right now?
Also, is the realmlist.wtf supposed to be renamed to realmlist.wtf.public or left unchanged in name (and only changed in content).
Also, I have always had a problem with icons on my desktop working (messed it up years ago because of using 3 different login names). Can I just open the file and click on wow.exe to start the game?
As things are I am getting all the way to login and when I put in my login it comes back and says I am unable to connect.

Backpain,
You rename the original realmist.wtf to realmlist.wtf.public. Then drag the new realmlist.wtf in and leave it named the same.
Also, make sure you are connected to leaf and keep it running in the background. then go to your World of Warcraft folder and hit WoW.exe
If you do it that way it should connect just fine. I have been on a better part of the day messing around and the only other person I have seen connected to Leaf is KJ.

If you didn't accept the Leaf invitation as of 12am this morning, then you won't be able to connect because I have to allow you to access the private network. Yet another nice part about Leaf. I'm on Leaf @ work so I remote connect via pcanywhere in case there's a problem where it needs to be restarted.
I'll be on vent when I get home. Be sure to hop on if you have any questions. Better yet, just hop on. I'd love to see the WoW channel have more people than the COD5 channel. ;)

I did not accept the leaf network invite by this morning, but when I logged in there tonight it said you had invited me and I accepted. I also see all the other names now in the network (with no one connected right now), so it appears I made it in, but I am not sure.
I still cannot connect and have ruled pretty much everything else out.

OK, got it downloaded and patched and stopped at 3.0.8.9506 and finished the reat of instructions. I click on shortcut and it opens WOW start menu and askes for log in when I enter name and pass word it won't accept it. I did have Leaf open and I also noticed that the version of WOW shows 3.09.9551 even though I stopped patch at 3.08.9506.

Provided that you followed the instructions, delete EVERYTHING out of the World of Warcraft folder. Copy and paste the ones you saves, per step 8. Start patching, and pay real close attenion.
