Here is the fix:
Make a shortcut of bc2 on your desktop and go to properties, in the "target" section add +fullproc at the end. Hit ok and try it

played about an hours worth using the 'play now' button I didn't check out the server browser. It's a littel choppy right now but for the most part it's good. the weapons are accurate but have a bit of kick back. The swapping between weapons is a bit cumbersome but for the most part I can see this becoming as good as BF2.
Graphics are good too. :)

Ditto Specimen. Once it's smoothed out should be good.

The scrolling message at the bottom of the lobby screen warns you that there is a CTD bug that makes it crash. Instead you are told to use just the "play now" button. Make it difficult to play as a group.
Laggy too at the moment, and I'm not sure that we can judge the game by just one map. I'm not going to be happy if they are all smaller CoD type maps.

Yeah, once they get the lag issue figured out it should be easier to get a true handle on the game. I was lucky to get in a couple "local" servers (Seattle and Chicago) and the lag was almost all gone. The UK / French servers were uber laggy and sucked.
Anyway, I personally like the game and liked the PS3 beta of it too (different map). Remember too that we are only seeing one game mode in the beta. My understanding is that the good old conquest mode with big maps are in retail. The winter map in the PC beta is pretty dang big when you see the round played all the way in (I think 8 or 10 control points).
There are issues for sure, but I think it will be pretty dang good once all is ironed out. I love the fact that it's a Battlefield game that has actual good weapons and hit boxes. ;)

Browser seems more stable today, but most if not all local servers are full. Join now usually puts me in a high ping (150+) server.
I'm really liking this game, I don't think they were prepared for the huge number of beta testers. I guess it's good there is so much interest in this.
Hopefully they will take what they learn in BC2 and apply to BF3!

Update:
The new client / patch they put out today seems to really have helped the lag issue (at least for me). All rounds I have played today on this new client have been super smooth. I suggest you don't use the join now and just keep refreshing browser to find a good local one. It can take a little while, but it seems worth it. (BTW Sting, how do you see the ping? I don't see any pings at all).
Mouse works better (they changed settings on that) Graphics seem more smooth. Bloom was not as strong. Weapons / hit boxes seem more consistent. Server browser works but still no ping showing or friends list. Stats are keeping up and correct.
I had a small issue with the new client cause of Steam. I suggest if you are running through Steam, delete the install in your games menu and re DL and install.
Also, turn off HBAO (Space Horizon-Based Ambient Occlusion) in the graphics settings. It's a known cause of some video issues and mouse / graphics lag.
For me at least, the game is 100% better today than yesterday because of the smoothness and lack of noticeable lag.
BTW, the UK forums are the place to get info and post feedback. http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/battlefield-bad-company-2-pc-beta/

PM me at TLB Bloody and I will give you a tour of our TS3 server. I can probably talk our Techno geek into setting you up too.
For starters, it's FREE. No passwords, instead it uses a "token" system that's supposedly very difficult to hack. Excellent sound, great codecs Individual volume controls, you can adjust anyones sound levels. links to your website, logos. customizable permissions phonetic nicknames multiple user created skins and sound packs EXTREMELY easy to use "Whisper" functions Built in file browser. In other words each channel can act as an FTP site for storing patches, mods, etc for games. Nicely arranged text chat that works! Contact lists Best VOIP out there now.
Just give me a time and I'll show it to you. Find the TS3 thread i started here, and it will give you all the connection info for our server. Then just PM me a time and I'll take you on a tour.

LOL, hell that would mean going and getting a new headset.
I will actually ask a couple of our guys to check it out.
When you say for starters it's free, does that mean like cable or sat tv and it's free for the first month, then costs a billion dollars after that? Or, free all the time?

Free all the time for gaming clubs, maximum 512 users, so you might have to pony up some dough once you cross that barrier.
:P
Again, the IP and info on ours is in the TS3 post I made in here somewhere. Free tours. Myself and Jiggggggerr set it up and know the most about it. Install is a bit of a bitch for those of us less than tech savvy types, but Jiggggggerr can help with that.
