Yeah, I know, it isn't Tuesday. I'm busy tomorrow and may have trouble getting to a computer.

But, tomorrow (besides being a Tuesday) is Halloween ... and that calls for special attention.

I thought about Moon Over Bourbon Street, but settled on Vampire Blues, instead.

Actually, I guess I didn't decide at all, huh?

B.B. King - 3 O'clock Blues

(This is the song that got B.B. King his start.)

Good ol' BB King. Definitely a legend.

Novus Ordo Seclorum

Knowledge is power... has been since time eternal. Arcane knowledge is thereby ultimate power and can
therefore lead to ultimate corruption. Wisdom (and the experience that comes with age) is a serum for corruption.
Perhaps that is why there are so many Old Men with Arcane knowledge and so few young ones...

My first office in LV was kind of next door to his condo. I used to see his tour bus pretty often.

Pinetop Perkins - How Long

Perkins is the oldest person to win a Grammy Award (at age 97) - edging out George Burns.

Roy Buchana's version of Hey Joe

I had the privilege of seeing Roy Buchanan live probably within a week of this recording on Austin City Limits. He was awesome - certainly among the best, if not THE best guitar player I've ever seen live.

He rarely used effects and was dismayed when a friend got him a backstage pass to Jimi Hendrix and he saw Hendrix employing many of the effects via pedals that he'd developed with just his hands.

Sadly, he is no longer among us after having been found hanged by his own shirt in a jail cell following an arrest for public intoxication.

By request,

Sister Rosetta Tharpe, known as "the original soul sister" and "the godmother of rock and roll", is a legend and an early influence on such stars as Elvis Presley, Little Richard, and Jerry Lee Lewis. Johnny Cash stated that Sister Rosetta Tharpe was his favorite singer. She never left her gospel roots, but crossed often the line between secular and gospel music - "bringing light into darkness".

Her 1944 recording of Strange Things Happening Everyday is often called a precursor of rock and roll.

Take a listen to That's All. It's not hard to hear how she influenced Chuck Berry, huh?

Sadly, bad health (diabetes and a series of strokes) took her life at the age of 58.

Thanks for the suggestion, Pace.

Ok, I've posted something about Catfish Blues before, but this one is about the guy (a kid really) pictured above.

His name is Christone "Kingfish" Ingram. He's 18, 17 at the time of the performance linked below.

Dang, this kid can play!

Here he is doing, The Thrill is Gone

Lovin' your choices Aged.

As much as I love true Blues, sometimes it helps to keep it both well-played... and light...
