This one will be more RP than the Igner Deadmines Fable...

Morfindion Starshadow was running through the Wetlands with his new pet, Spook - a ghost saber he encountered in the Mathystra Ruins a few days earlier. After some initial friction, Morfindion and Spook had begun to form a elven-feline bond, but the process was still underway. Morfindion made certain to keep an assortment of Spook's favorite foods on him in case Spook began to reconsider their partnership.

Morfindion was the younger of two sons. His older brother had ventured to Moonglade to study how to become one with nature as a druid. Morfindion took a different path. He'd decided to take nature face on and became a hunter. Some time after the two brothers parted ways, their father had been killed by troll with 4 fingers. This spurred Morfindion on, vowing to hone his skills and, one day, avenge his father's death.

Having recently sought training in his huntting skills, Morfindion found himself low on gold and was; therefore, in the employ of Ormer Ironbraid, a dwarven explorer. He'd taken a bounty on some rapters that had been harassing the archaeological dig at Whelgar's Excavation Site. With the job complete, he was on his way back to see Ormer for his payment.

As he climbed his way up to the cave that the dwarves were using as a sort of headquarters, he heard the Menethil watch cry out, "Whelgar's Excavation Site is under attack!" Morfindion froze. Quickly sending Spook away some distance and placing him on a defensive alert, he shadowmelded to assess the situation.

Seeing nothing in the immediate vicinity, he warily returned to his climb. Upon reaching the cave, he saw that his employer had been murdered. Again, he shadowmelded to assess the situation. Shortly thereafter a mage and a priest showed up at the scene. The priest was asking the mage for some gold to defray the costs of waging war, to which the mage complied. Morfindion stayed shadowmelded, knowing he had nothing to spare and wanting to avoid an awkward situation. Eventually the priest left the scene.

A few minutes later, the priest yelled out that there was a troll hunter at the entrance to the excavation site. Morfindion returned down into the site cautiously and sought cover at the bottom of the ramp that led from site to the dwarves' cave. He sent Spook out to look for the troll. Near the entrance, as expected, Spook saw the troll; however, the troll and his pet were running in fear. Obviously the priest had engaged the troll.

Recalling Spook to his side, Morfindion set out to look for the troll. Was this his chance at revenge? He saw his quarry near the middle of the excavation site. The mage had slowed him with a frost spell. Morfindion closed on the troll, marked him and sent Spook in for the kill. Morfindion fired blindly at the troll, years of pent up rage spilling out, so much so he'd forgotten to count the number of fingers.

A few shots and the troll lay dead.

It was now that Morfindion realized he'd drawn the attention of 2 powerful rapters during his blind run. A few seconds later and he'd been transformed into a wisp wandering around looking to reclaim his broken body.

Elune had granted him another life. As he and Spook recovered, he realized that he'd had his first taste of troll blood. ... and, he liked it.

LoL nice RP story! Sounds like Morf had a bad case of target fixation though. Good moral based story... you should definitely add one :-)

Novus Ordo Seclorum

Knowledge is power... has been since time eternal. Arcane knowledge is thereby ultimate power and can
therefore lead to ultimate corruption. Wisdom (and the experience that comes with age) is a serum for corruption.
Perhaps that is why there are so many Old Men with Arcane knowledge and so few young ones...
