I'm finally getting around to getting everything set up again. I wanted to do it neatly, so it's taking some time.

Another thing that takes time is setting up my controls for Star Citizen. A new patch dropped that adds some new features and I decided to neaten things up with my control setup as well.

Along the way, I've been checking out YouTube videos on an add-on called Game Glass. It looks pretty cool. It allows you to set up a tablet or phone as an MFD. I have to admit that I haven't tried it, so can't do a true testimonial on it. It's free, but you can purchase a subscription that adds some additional features.

However, in researching GameGlass, I came across an alternative - Game Touch Controller. It works similarly to Game Glass, but the app (the part that runs on your pad/phone costs $2.99. The server side (the part that runs on your desktop) is free. I can do a testimonial on Game Touch Controller since I've purchased the app and have used it in game.

I'm impressed. You have different modes - flight, on foot, mining, etc. and it'll switch between modes as you switch what you're doing. From what I can tell, it's not quite as configurable as GameGlass, but I'm finding it has all I need and it reduces pressure on my joystick button assignments. Why did I get it vs. GameGlass? Two reasons, it's a labor of love by a single developer that plays Star Citizen and wanted the functionality he was looking for and there's no user information collected to use it. I'm not super paranoid about that sort of thing, but I figure if I have a clear option, why not?

I may eventually try GameGlass too, but for now, it's Game Touch Controller for me.

Thanks Aged, ive had a serious problem setting up my comp, i believe its because i have 3 drives and its splitting up where it decides, i assign a drive and it still splits, so to FIX it, i just got a 2t and a windows 11cd ssd in this weeki hope i can do this without a usb drive, i will be checking this out,

Question, does it eleminate assigning the buttons? i only have a stk and throttle, rather not have to buy another stk as we are in the middle of buying an outboard motor

No, it doesn’t eliminate assigning buttons. You’ll still need to assign your axis’s (not really buttons) and your weapon fire buttons.

It will take over things like your landing gear, lights, etc. If you set it up with Vjoy it can handle certain analog functions, like mining laser power. I’m not using Vjoy, so I have those functions still mapped to my joystick.

As for HOTAS vs HOSAS, I’m sure you can use a throttle in place of a second stick, though I’m not sure what the third axis would be off the top of my head. Another option would be to use a mouse in place of the right stick and use your stick in your left hand (HOMAS) - T1600’s are easily converted for either hand. Many say that’s the most accurate control scheme. Personally, I like the way a joystick automatically self centers vs a mouse.
