That Global Warming was started by the worst energy abuser in the nation IMHO. Al Gore's house is the worst in the nation. He started this smoke screen about global warming to take away from the liberals and what they are doing. The fact that the ocean water is cooling would suggest that we might see another ice age if Al baby were really checking or concerned about the planet. He sucks

I see red every time I see green.

Eco friendly, save the planet, going green are all words and phrases to dumb us down while the Govt does what best for us for own good. The USA will be brought down by a thousand cuts if we allow the nonsense to continue.

I know I've said this before boys, but it's all about money. Twist the facts, scare the people, get some paid bozos to parrot what you want and voila; Money making machine!

So, do you guys think humans have had no impact on the earth? There's no doubt in my mind we have, mostly in a negative way.

I'm not a liberal by any means, but we do need to become more in tuned to the impact we are having on this planet.

As for the 17 year old, probably a nut to begin with. Who knows what else would of tipped him over the edge.

Stingray, man made global warming is made up by man. It's freaking weather it changes all the time. Was the Ice age caused by man? nope no Suv's then. Some of the hottest days on record were before the invent of the automobile. They say it's caused by carbon emissions, what do you emit? carbon dioxide. What do plants consume? carbon dioxide.

The planet has gone through so many changes in the billions of years of it's existence and most of that time man wasn't even around. Volcanoes ( which I'd like to point out aren't man made ) emit more carbon dioxide than we could ever.

Libs use junk science to to prove something that's just not there to cripple our economy (hello $5 dollar a gallon gas) so the Govt can take over and create a state dependent on them for help, which gives them all the power.

Don't get sucked in like the rest of the lemmings and do some research on the other side of the argument instead of paying $10 bucks for a light bulb that's "eco friendly".

If a bear farts in the woods, does it smell? Cause and effect isn't a freaking conspiracy theory or a sign of a liberal. It's one thing to make a big deal about the validity or stupidity of theories on global warming, but it's ignorant to think that man doesn't negatively impact the planet.

Maybe 10% could be attributed to man at the most. The rest is the sun heating up.

Costco has 6 pack of "eco friendly" light bulbs for $7. Last 10x longer then traditional bulbs, don't put out as much heat (main reason I bought them), and use a whole lot less energy.

As for global warming, believe what ever side you want, I tend to straddle the middle. Good evidence on both sides to defend whatever argument you want to make.

I've seen unbiased evidence that our impact here on earth has been much more negative then positive experience for mother earth. Issue for me anyway, doesn't only revolve around global warming.

Al Gore's light bill is over $14,000 dollars a month for the record. Now thats cuttin back!

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,257958,00.html

My research concludes that 1 small volcanic eruption outputs on average over 100 times the combined total pollution the human race has output in its entire history. Mt Saint Helens was over 1000 by comparison. Large eruptions over several areas can cause the equivalance of a nuclear winter lasting months to years, thousands of miles downwind. Think Yellowstone Park, one of the largest calderas (giant volcanos) in the world. The last eruption left 2 feet of ash in the Blue Ridge mountains of east Tennessee and over 5 feet west of the Mississippi river. In effect killing all ground based life in the region. That eruption changed the planets weather for decades. Theres nothing to be done but wait till it happens again. Then theres still nothing to be done but try to survive. The earth has recovered from every event to date. Arizona meteor hit, Krackatoa ect. Human life has been here for millions of years. A human footprint was found in an excavation recently, inside the footprint of a T-Rex. I figure we have survived several cataclysmic events including an extinction event or 3. The human race can no more change the climate than we can drain the oceans. Ozone is generated by the earth as a natural process. We cant cause it to happen or stop it at will. We are here for the ride and anyone thinking we can change anything but water quality and chemical pollution of our bodies is living in a dream state. I guess we could create our own country called OMOANIA. Then sell our alotted carbon credits to the US government for billions of dollars. Move back to US soil as very rich men......But someone already has that idea...lol.

We cant keep letting people make us feel guilty for everything the world throws at us. If we do they will have the power to punish us for their own mistakes. They already regulate everything thats supposed to be wrong! Are we going to let them punish us for it by stealing more of our money?.....AGAIN? Is there anyone that actually beleives Al Gore? He has gotten rich selling a book that blames everyone on earth for a naturally changing enviroment. Ive shook his hand, spoke to him and still cant accept it.

The thing that worries me is how many will accept blame and pay into something that will not change the weather at all....EVER.

And all those light bulbs do is create jobs building them and profits to those selling them.

I guess it wouldn't be a problem if we all thought the same. You know the 'if your not with us, your against us'...kind of thinking. Unfortunately and thankfully some of us don't believe that.

Have to agree with havok on this one, forum title tends to lead someone into thinking we can have these sort of discussions here.

This is kids stuff compared to another site I go to.

Specimen and I were initiated the same night and we seem to think alike on most things. I think Havok has enjoyed spewing his brand of vitriol and letting us all know that his way is the "right" way. I support his speaking his opinions though. I think it's good to debate. I've never liked it when debaters slander, insult and try to force opinions. I'd rather an open minded debate. unfortunately when it comes to politics, religion and a few other topics it's gets real hot because no matter what anyone tells you, you probably won't change your beliefs and will use any facts (real or otherwise) to support your beliefs.

Global warming is a sham. I BELIEVE it's a sham because we, as humans, don't have enough data to make a positive diagnosis. Like Perti said, there's plenty of data for both sides. Humans inhabit a tiny fraction of the planet and our oceans and Sun are the main causes of global changes.

With that said however I also believe we should use all our resources more intelligently. Reduce our power needs because it saves us money. It is REALLY hard for me to want to reduce my paltry carbon footprint when NASCAR (sorry Spec) burns more fuel in one race than my whole family could in a lifetime.

You speak of Al Gore and his house(s), please. His carbon footprint is frekin tiny compared to the rich on this planet. Have any idea what a power yacht burns in fuel per hour and the Microsoft boys have multiple. Go see what Paul Allen sails! So if you want to pick on someone, which seems to be your MO, then pick on someone truly worthy of your caustic comments.

The reason I mentioned Al Gore is because he is the sponser of Globle warming. He is the push to clean it up and is out of line with his house. That is what I was saying if the You was directed at me.

You are right about the rich and the power boats and such. I have tried to talk to them and can't get close enough their speed boat goes faster than my flat botton boat but I am trying.

To tell people they can not discuss what they want as long as no cussing or foul remarks, is the first step to takeing away freedom of speech. The liberals want to do that with talk radio in the Fairness Act. We conservatives can't help it that the liberals have a hard time finding someone to do a talk show on ratio. Most of them are out doing the green peace thing and fighting global warming. Global warming is a sham that has turned into a business.

No one is forcing you to read it.

What's good about this gaming group is that it is diverse and we can talk about this in a semi civil manner. I've heard great points from both sides but I wouldn't of heard any if the debate was shut down. I don't agree with everything on either side but I am open to hearing both sides and try to counter with evidence if possible.

So if Havoc can't post his thoughts does that mean the rest of us can't post similar thoughts?
I call BS on that.
