And did they take into account the increase in the Sun's temperature as measured on other planets in the Solar System?

I mean, common, how is the principal heat source for this solar system so blatantly overlooked?

They recently measured the temp on Mars and it was increasing as well, last time I checked Martians didn't drive SUV's.

Yeah I don't fully understand it, from the same website.

http://www.livescience.com/environment/070123_ap_global_warming.html

And how to combat it.

Yep, and that won't stop the increase in the sun's temperature one iota. I wonder how much of that 1,200 page report includes evidence of the increase in Sun's temperature.

If you want to 'save the earth' don't do the following:
*Use a Hybrid Car - the batteries contain un-salvageable toxins and have to be replaced on an average of every 5 years. CNG or Hydrogen Fuel Cells will work better.
*Don't use Compact Fluorescent light bulbs: the mercury they contain is toxic to humans, the bulbs can leak out the gas, and they do not last as long as advertised.
*Kill all the Moose in Canada: they fart. For that matter, so do cows and humans.

I chose that website for the obvious: "We have 4 as a total, 2 over here and 2 over there, but we think humans are to blame for the 4." Seems like science has been given over to Dogma. Today's anti-Galileo's are not clothed in clerical robes from Rome but in white smocks from famous universities. Science has been forgotten in favor of Cargo Cult Science. Why? There is an agenda and it involves impoverishing the West which the Global Warming Alarmist's plans would accomplish. The lack of science in Global Warming has been the complete glossing over of the effects of the Sun on the Solar System and the dogmatic denunciation of any Scientist who disagrees with Man-is-the-Cause-of-Global-Warming (MitCoGW). I cannot take any claims of Global Warming seriously that do not account for the Sun.

Point to all the reports you want to that there is a "Smoking Gun" sitting on someone's desk, so long as there are reasonable explanations, MitCoGW cannot be taken seriously. We do contribute, but even if Man ceased to exist, it would not stop the Sun from shining and heating up the Earth.

My favorite quote from the link I made before:
quote:
While evidence suggests fluctuations in solar activity can affect climate on Earth, and that it has done so in the past, the majority of climate scientists and astrophysicists agree that the sun is not to blame for the current and historically sudden uptick in global temperatures on Earth, which seems to be mostly a mess created by our own species.

Excuse me? "evidence suggests fluctuations in solar activity can effect climate on earth?" WTF?! (What the Farse) You gotta be kidding me: "suggest" Ever notice the difference in temperature between Night and Day? Ever notice the difference in temperature between a sunny day and a cloudy day?

The increase and decrease in solar radiation: visible and invisible, directly contribute to the Earth's climate. To gloss over it is to display ignorance of Thermodynamics or straight out intentional deception.

There is not way they can tell what is going on with the weather. The water temp is decreasing and some say that we might be headed to a Ice age. nothing but guessing and I find that artical offensive with reguards that it implies that I am destroying the planet and guilty with no proof.

Need to move that out to the garbage thread. by the way I am retired now

Read what happened to me today

The other day I went downtown to run a few errands. I went into the local coffee shop for a snack. I was only there for about 5 minutes.

When I came out, there was this cop writing out a parking ticket.

I said to him, 'Come on, man, how about giving a retired person a break?'

He ignored me and continued writing the ticket. His insensitivity annoyed me, so I called him a 'Nazi.'

He glared at me and then wrote out another ticket for having worn tires.

So I proceeded to call him 'doughnut eating Gestapo.'

He finished the second ticket and put it on the windshield with the first.

Then he wrote a third ticket when I called him a moron in blue.

This went on for about 20 minutes. The more I talked back to him the more tickets he wrote.

Personally, I didn't really care. I came downtown on the bus.

The car that he was putting the tickets on had one of those bumper stickers that said, 'Obama in '08'.

I try to have a little fun each day now that I'm retired. The doctor tells me that it's important to my health.

So... Petri... If I understand what you're saying... We could get all the "blowhards" together in one place and have them start spewing their vitriol in specific scientifically calculated direction with the expectation that it would push the earth into a wider orbit (further from the sun for you non-scientific type) thus bringing the temperature of the earth back to a more reasonable level!

Novus Ordo Seclorum

Knowledge is power... has been since time eternal. Arcane knowledge is thereby ultimate power and can
therefore lead to ultimate corruption. Wisdom (and the experience that comes with age) is a serum for corruption.
Perhaps that is why there are so many Old Men with Arcane knowledge and so few young ones...

Well, increasing the distance from the Sun would have that effect of decreasing the concentration of solar radiation we receive. However, I don't think that the we have enough blowhards in the world to accomplish such a task let alone get them to agree which direction to blow. Not to say the ratio of Blowhard to Man is low; it is pretty high, just that that air might be better served to keep some wind farms spinning.

Evaporation. Then you get the equivalent of Gout on the Earth when all that crystallized urine rides the solar wind right back atcha thus proving once again: never pee facing the wind.

Let congress decide which way to blow. WAIT, NO, they can decied on anyting. Now they won't let a vote on drilling come up to be voted on. We won't say who controls the congress because it might offend some and that would not be a good thing. Need to pamper them.

This congress we have (not calling any party out) is the worst we have ever had.

I wouldn't say we are the total cause of global warming, but we are a contributor. What you do about it is your business.

Right. We don't need Government telling us what to do. People, unless they are selfish jellies or ignorant, do care about their enviroment.

Just recall our contribution pales in comparison to the reason we even have heat on this planet.
