Well, It's kinda cool. Rigormortis and I played a bit Tuesday night.
I set my graphics on Best performance to get a decent FPS of about 60+-.
There's a fair bit to learn. The strategy is different and teamwork is very important. The maps we played on were large and vehicles are needed at times.
There were objectives to take and they chained together like a power grid to activate a nuclear facility.
The weapons sound and feel good. The way to get them is different. You have to purchase them through experience points and lose your purchases every time you die. There are different loadouts ie sniper kit but you can also buy anything that's available. for example you can run around with shotgun and place claymores.
I wouldn't mind playing again with a couple more friends.
Besides that the single player is fun and worth the price of admission.

Sounds like Crysis, but with more optimization of shaders for better FPS.

FYI on Warhead.
This quote was from an article about the recent DRM lawsuit filed against EA for Securom on Spore. Sounds like if you installed Warhead your screwed too. :(
I was fine with the DRM thing, but what they failed to tell people was that even after the game is removed the Securom stays in the OS for good. As I posted in the Spore forums, I have had a number of memory overrun errors (with BSOD) and mega lag and connection issues in BF2 and even some odd issues with COD4 since installing Spore. It may be just coincidence, but somehow I don't think so.
It's getting to the point where you can't install anything anymore. What happened to the days of fun PC gaming without all the hassles?
quote:
It sucks that you aren't told about SecuROM and that it's a pain to remove, but this is far from the first game to perform such a feat. It's not even the most recent. Crytek's Crysis Warhead, also published by EA, uses the same SecuROM technology. So did Bioware and Demiurge's PC port of Mass Effect. Even Maxis' The Sims 2 used SecuROM.

The lawsuit will most likely result in them doing something to "reverse" the usage of Securom, but unlikely it will change anytime soon. The thing is that most of us probably have a game with Securom on in installed already (weather we know it or not). I would guess there is a list somewhere with Securom games listed.

Found a list as of the 5th of this month. I would guess that everyone has at least one of these games installed or has been installed on their PC. Remember, Securom stays in the OS kernel even after the game is removed. ;)

So, how many games have SecuROM v7? Well, we think you'd be surprised as to how many games have this version. The majority of them haven't really had problems reported online but many of them do such as BioShock, Mass Effect, The Sims 2 games and C&C3: Kane's Wrath are just to name a few. Here is a list of games that have SecuROM v7 and their full versions:

Out of that list, I only have 5:
SPORE (Installed despite the 3 install restriction) Never Winter Nights 2 (Installed but does not have the same restrictions as SPORE) BF2142 1.5 (Download from EA Store and Installed - but keeps thinking 1.5 needs to be loaded up, again) World in Conflict (Uninstalled) War Hammer 40,000 (all versions Installed. It IS Relic, after all)
I have Company of Heroes and Opposing Forces, but not the Gold Version. I suppose they may have added it in on a patch, but again, this is not something that restricts your installs (currently on my second install following a planned wipe earlier this year).
Only one game I have restricts your installs: Spore. I bought it before I knew about the restriction.
I don't like DRM as a rule, and while I would like DRM free games, I do understand that there is an unreasonable habit people have of wanting things for free. SecuROM, however, is nothing near to being bad like StarForce which created nasty issues for people's computers. I flat out refused to buy any game that had it and from the looks of it, enough others did as well to cause developers to stop using StarForce.
Since I restrict games with serious DRM to one computer, I do notice when things start going awry as it effects other games installed on the comp. I tend to re-install the OS on my main gaming machine every year so the biggest issue for me is the restriction on installs: common, things happen to your computer and making such an asinine and arbitrary number with regards to installation/activation fails to impress users that you value their patronage. EA's response will be quite telling and determine whether I purchase further from them.

StarForce is almost identical to Securom (from what I have read about it at least). I guess most of the games with Securom have not caused too many issues for people, but apparently Spore, Bioshock and one other I can't remember have been causing major issues with some peoples PCs. I wouldn't say I have major issues cause of Spore, but I have had 5-6 BSOD in the last two weeks (memory error of some sort) and BF2 (mods too) are laggy for me now and I have had a number of connection issues with it and COD4 in the last few days too. :(
I hate the idea that a bunch of hackers are getting games for free and driving all the game makers to this point, but for hell sakes, at least make it less intrusive for the rest of us that actually buy games.

hmmm... and I was thinking my network connection was getting spotty.
I need to monitor this more then.
Also, it should be noted that EA is using the most aggressive form of SecuROM. While I don't like it, I had far worse issues with StarForce games than with SecuROM games (no BSODs to report, but then I have not been playing for as many hours on end as I used to and I play MMOs far more now a days - no DRM issues with City of Heroes/Villains).
The irony is that the Piracy is still going on. It’s like gun bans: only the police and criminals carry them, but your average citizen cannot. Likewise with DRM: only the developers and Pirates can skirt the DRM, the average citizen has to suffer with it. The stricter the DRM, the more it encourages people to seek out non-DRMed sources. Either because they want to play their purchased game without being hamstrung or because they want to make a statement that the Publisher will feel (in the pocket book). Those who normally would steal it steal it anyways, so those of us who stand on principle lose out all the more.
I might as well stick to MMOs and Stardock games (even Steam, except for when the removal of SecuROM is forgotten about), but you guys are the main drivers who get me to stay with First Person Shooters which tend to be the main Piracy targets.

I have a few of those games already. I have noticed no performance issues. Been playing CoD 4 and normally have the lowest ping in the game. Just got Warhead installed and played the first few min of the single player. Not enough to say anything about it other than the garphics are nice and it takes half a clip to kill some guy in jungle shorts.

set one of your rifles for single shot and aim for the head. The Scar seems to do more damage so hang on to it as long as you can.
