Hey Bif, If you can see the inside of the back legs you can tell the age of the deer. their scent gland is located just below the bend in the rear leg and the larger the black spot with it developing into a teardrop shape, The older the deer. Antlers are no way to tell the age. Ive seen 2 year old deer with a nice 8 point rack. I will say by the way the broadness and diameter of this rack, the deer might be 3-4 years old. NICE DEER! I havent deer hunted in a few years. I Elk hunt only. Those deer are way too cute to shoot, unlike their cousins the Nasty old Elk. lol

Looks like your using high tech monitoring. Hes about 2.5 yrs old. Tooth wear will tell ya when you get him for sure. Ive seen em that big at 1.5...hes eating corn on the cob too. Hes too pretty to let get away but sure would look good next year....or the next.

He is nice but will look better on the wall if I can get him. This was the first day picture I have gotten. He hangs around the area. Rocky river is about 30 yards to his left and a place we call Doe beach. We have seen as many as 20 doe down at the water off and on for about 3 hrs. There are alot of smaller bucks there also. 2 & 4 point bucks. If I see one bigger I would rather have him instead of this one. The next buck will go on the wall so I will shop for him. Doe will do fine for the freezer LOL

Ok, being an avid deer/elk hunter I just have to ask the question.....if you were close enough to get a pic, then why weren't your sights on him instead of the camera? Looks like a pretty clean shot there...and, I'm still waiting on some jerky from the first one..HA!

Isn't that one of those motion sensitive cameras that you can strap to trees? Like the ones that Cabellas sells?

I'm not talking about the white object. Look at the very top, the dark object looks like someone from the waist down upside down with their arms dangling down.

Yes, it is a game camera. With the card in it, it can take up to 3500 pictures. I had 350 on with him in about 20. Heart, it is not a camera that you hold. It is on a tree and just sits there and takes pictures. Being a avid elk/deer hunter I figured you would know that LOL.
I now have to move him to 3rd to get. I got another 6pointer today. 165 lbs befor gutting

LOL, sorry, but when you indicated you couldn't get a clear shot I assumed you were looking at it in person and took a pic instead of looking down your scope...lol all good..btw- thats a pretty good pic for one of those contraptions..

He is only coming out at night or early morning at around 3am and leaving by 5:30am. I hope to lure him out of his hiding area (about 40 yards away) and into the edge of the woods. This is a challenge for me as it is my first year of really hunting hard for a good trophy.
I have lost right at 30lbs while hunting and hope to lose about 20 to 25 more. Best thing that ever happened to me lol.
