Now's the time. Got the server up and running and I'm looking for players to help test the server load. This offer is only open to OMO members and BCO memebers

If you have ever been interested in playing for a bit, all that's required is the following:

1. Download Leaf (free program): http://www.leafnetworks.net/

2. PM me the following:
- Your leaf username
- The account name and password you want to login to the server with
- an e-mail to send the downloader file (1.6 mb) to download and install the game. It's a torrent style of download, so it will work as fast as your connection.
- How much of the game you're downloading. Be it just classic, both classic and Burning Crusade, or Classic, burning crusade, & wrath of the lich king.

3. After we've made a connection with leaf, and the client is downloaded, I'll show how to connect to the server.

Again, the offer is only open to OMO and BCO members.

Hey KJ, great idea! I would love to see all the BCO's at least give it a try. No real excuse not to with this set up in my opinion.

I will PM you my info at BCO.

I'll help you test it.

Out of curiosity, what is the security like on the Leaf Network?

Also, I assume I would need to DL the game from the network you are setting up as opposed to using the boxed version?

it's a VPN program. The only thing you're connecting to is the server, my PC.

As for who actually is connecting, those that I trust. Hence the BCO & OMO only invitation. The only non-BCO/OMO people that are on are a friend from work who is helping put the server up, and probably 4-5 guildmates from my guild in WoW. They are using it to practice instances and raids.

And as for control of the server,

it's set to 30x XP for quests, kills, and exploration, 400x money, and has both expansions installed. getting to 80 should take no more than 2 weeks and apparently there is an actual limit on how much gold you can have in the game. Everyone starts out @ level 8 (eight) with 4x 32 slot "bags" and 50,000 gold for expenses.

Sweet. I assume when you say:
quote:
- Your leaf username

You mean the username of my choice you will set me up with on your leaf network?

So Leafnetworks is somewhat like Hamachi.

I might try it out just to see, I played WoW hard core 2 years and did most of the end game instances.
My wife still plays WoW with her and her buddies. Remember when the OMO ruled WoW guys???

From left to right.

Aged, Redneck, Organdoner, T-hip, Me, Backpain and Medicare. I think Arcane was off with Shialuna skinny dipping in a moon well.

So Leafnetworks is somewhat like Hamachi.

Unlinke Hamachi where it bases your contacts off of your computer, leaf bases your contacts off of a login and password. Because of that, it's more unpopular. However, unlike Hamachi, I can choose who I want to be able to connect to my private network.

When you first start up leaf, unless you already have a login, you will have to create an account.

If you have Hamachi, make sure that you disable the Hamachi network device before opening the program.

Once you send me your username for leaf, I can add you to the group, and enable it so that you can connect to the private network. I'm the only one that will see it.

------------------------------------------

Update:

Apparently the server is growing more popular than I thought it would be in the beginning. We'll be making a box soon, and hooking it up to a fiber line. What was once just 4-5 people, within 3 days has become about 15. Eventualy, with the new connection, it'll be a static IP address, taking out the Leaf part. But that's not due to happen for a month or so. The real purpose behind this test is to measure how much bandwidth is required per connection.

I'm game. Stonegut has a cousin that needs to get out and stretch his legs a bit.

Thanks for the opportunity to play a little WoW again.

Yeah, beleive it or not, blizzard doesn't charge for the client. They only charge for the subscription. Hence why I'm sending the program to download the game. No account required with blizzard.

Are we playing Horde or Alliance, or both?

I am looking forward to messing around with WoW again. I think I want to do Alliance toons this time if that works for the purpose KJ.

DLing now (fast DL BTW).

It would be uber cool if we got tons of OMO and BCO to try this out. No excuses about money, subscriptions, etc.

which ever side you want, Bloody. I set it so that you can have both sides in a guild and party. Also set it so that Alliance understands Orcish, and Horde understands Common. Also, the night elves understand the blood elves, and vice versa.

From the config file:
AllowTwoSide.Interaction.Chat = 0 (to keep the language barrier)
AllowTwoSide.Interaction.Channel = 1 (to allow both sides trade chat and general chat)
AllowTwoSide.Interaction.Group = 1 (to allow both sides parties)
AllowTwoSide.Interaction.Guild = 1 (to allow both sides guilds)
AllowTwoSide.Interaction.Auction = 0 (to preserve differing economies)
AllowTwoSide.Interaction.Mail = 1 (so you can send mail to friends of opposing factions)
AllowTwoSide.WhoList = 1 (to see if your friends from the opposing faction is online)
AllowTwoSide.AddFriend = 1 (to add friends from the opposing faction)
