I like their approach to the game. Still browsing the various elements you can play with.

I added you to my friends list Bloody so look for it. You have a separate set of friends for each Commander you have because Germans can only fight with Germans and Allies with Allies. Hence, I sent you four requests, 2 from my Axis commander and 2 from my Allied Commander. This way I will know if your on playing regardless of the commander you are using.

Alright, I hit Level 50 on BC2, ready for some CoH action. My Allied Commander is Stingray, I know shocking. I can't seem assign numbers to my squads, what am I do wrong?

In SCII, I select a group, hit Ctrl 1,2,3 etc and that group gets assigned that number. Can't get it to work in CoH.

That is how it is done Stingray. Just select a unit/squad, hold down Control and press the number. Be sure to keep ctrl depressed while pushing the number. Also, it is a good idea to assign numbers to your buildings so you don't have to divert your attention away from the fight to build units.

Bloody, I thought you did a good job for how new you are to the game. I had fun. Bypass and I played some reward matches last night against people and got beat up but we had fun and got reward points. It just takes time. If you get a headset and on vent it will be easier to work together but even without one it is just good fun.

Very odd. Are you sure you don't have cap lock on or something?

Woot, up to 5 wins now.

2 have been in reward 3v3, 4v4 and a couple against PC with Sting.

Err, make that 7 wins now.

At least holding my own in the 2v2 - 3v3 matches. Still can't do as well as most, but I rarely give up territory and last game I actually was the commander that took the last point for the win. Tanks for the win (if your team last long enough to get that far). Got to make the Tiger twice now. Took the last point with it and 3 support tanks last round.

OK, help out a noob here.

What rotations are you guys using for building order at the start of rounds?

I find that if I don't "land grab" with 3-4 pioneer squads I will never catch up with the other team and it's almost over before it starts. On the other hand, if I just have one pioneer squad out and one building the first building (for jeeps/cycles and inf) then I can at least sometimes get to the tank building within a fairly close time as the other team.

Ok, playing germans I usally will go: Pioneer,Volks,MG......

Starting Pioneer builds the barracks, 2nd comes out and helps, then both move out to capture as volks comes out. Next follow with MG as manpower allows. Remember, your opponent doesn't have very many units either at the start and so it becomes a series of capture and uncapture. Just hold a fuel and you should be ok.....but most importantly retreat units if out matched. Never lose a squad as it give your opponent XP to use against you and units are more expensive to replace than reinforce. Losing entire squads is a double kick to the head. LOL

OK, good info. I have been over capping to start and also not paying enough attention to the actual squads in the field (i.e. I many times don't retreat and just let them die).

Capping is very important for sure. A huge mistake that some players make is over estimating their opponent's ability to cap and hold territory. My natural reflex is to freak out when I notice territory being taken but I have to force myself to remember that even if they take forward territory early that they really have no way of defending everything they have taken. 3-4 squads just can't be everywhere. Sometimes I just go uncap a location they have taken and don't worry about taking it for myself as my goal is just to break their supply to fuel or Ammo. If I break supply then I just move on and uncap another in their territory knowing that they will put priority in recapping to be in supply rather than go after my pioneers.

Good games last night Bypass.... Petri you did pretty well playing your fist game as a German.

I am getting a tiny bit better now, but still feel like I am super slow with everything. I have finally started to win a few rounds here and there, but I usually stick with 3v3 or 4v4 rounds. I am seeing a couple tactics that seem to work well. Pioneer / Engineer squads should upgrade asap to flame throwers. I actually saved a game last night by having 2 squads that had the upgrade and I ran to the help of our best player. He said after, thank god you had flames. lol The other thing I find is using a sniper or flame squad to cap and run works to keep the enemy busy.

One tactic I have seen twice now (used on me) is para jumpers in mass on my main. I assume they are using some later upgrade to para to drop into enemy areas, as I can't drop mine behind lines at all.

Using my newer German Defensive commander a lot now. I figure cause I am slower at the game I can still help win by having that reactive arty. It was a game changer last night when I used it in combo with hit and run snipers, mortar teams, and flame pioneers.

If Paratroopers are landing in a main base they have to use a unit/sniper spotting for their jump. Hence the counter is to sweep your base with a motorcycle(Jeep if playing Americans) to find the sniper in Camo. Also, players use snipers to spot for artillery (Germans can use Stormtoopers as well). Last night in a game Bypass and I were playing I found a couple spotting my main for artillery/Howitzers.

Servers will be offline tonight for updating. 8/17/10
