Alrighty now.

8 GB Corsair Vengance
i5 2500K
ASUS P8Z68-pro
Corsair H-80 hydro cooling
Corsair 128 SSD

some kinda intel connx thing for the internet to hook up to (plugs into mobo)

So "issues"

1.I have Win 7 on SDD for gaming and this is where I am typing from. Seems the Vista HDD can't connect to internet, some kind of ethernet problem...huh?

2. Win 7 screen is not stretching out to edge of screen. Is that a res tweak?

Too tired to continue now, glad to finally have this up though. Peace out

Reformat the Vista drive and install Win7 onto it. That should take care of that issue.

Ok... Vista not connecting? I assume your rig is a dual boot? If you shut down completely and boot to Vista First, are you able to use the internet? Do you have Win7 drivers installed only for Win7 and Vista for the NIC card? Better: does Vista have the NICs drivers installed?

Screen resolution: what type of monitor? How are you connected? What GPU do you have? Can you size fully in Vista?

What kind of brainfart made you want Vista on your system at all Nosehair? Win 7 is vastly better.

Just using the ole HDD my brethren. May I upgrade Vista 32 to Win 7 on the HDD. Or do I have to buy a new HDD and install another Win 7 on it (then transfer my Vista stuff onto it)?

Hey is this network adapter not working on VIsta drive because it is 32bit and the default boot SSD is Win 7 64bit? I'm just askin' that's all.

That Demon dude said this adapter helped his frame rate signicantly though...wtf

Then again, perhaps his mobo was not THE BOMB

You can upgrade Vista to Win7 without reformating.

No go there Specy. Even direct connect won't allow Vista HDD to connect...

Is vista a fresh install? I'd stick with the mobo ethernet till you figure this out, get the latest drivers from the ASUS website, not what is on the CD.

As for the screen issue, make sure you have latest drivers and select the native resolution for your monitor, should be good to go.

Win7's network drivers are taking precedence so you will need to make sure that in Vista, you install the vista specific drivers in the device manager. And, as someone else mentioned: get the latest drivers straight from the manufacturer's website.

But seriously, the sooner you lose vista on that machine, the better you will feel about it. Heck, WinXP is better.

OK updated everything on ASUS list. How do I update drivers in Vista without internet connection on the HDD. Is this SSD update going to fix?

You can DL the specific drivers from the manufacturer's website and store it on a thumb drive or CD to install on Vista.
As for the SSD: give it a whirl and let us know.

Installed latest AMD driver for 5870 and used recommended resolution, but still have the black boarder too. I can't get over to BC3 boards btw as I don't have the Vista HDD up. I'll probably get the upgrade Monday for Windows 7. Should I just get a new HDD and install vista on that?

You have me really confused. If your getting Win 7 upgrade why are you wanting to put vista on. From my experience Vista sucked and wasn't worth the switch from XP. However Win 7 is a real improvement expecially when you go past 3 gig memory

OK I'll get the upgrade for my HDD that I am running as secondary drive for storage on the comp. SSD is for gaming only. I have taken up a bit of space with the drive updates to ATI 5780 though. Can I clear that space once I get the win 7 upgrade done and update drivers from there?
